On the morning of June 26, 2025, the closing ceremony of the 454th programme assessment, conducted under the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) standards, took place at the Administration Building of Can Tho University (CTU). This is the second AUN-QA assessment hosted by CTU in 2025, held from June 24 to 26, 2025.

Attending the closing ceremony were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Evangeline P. Bautista – Chief Assessor of the AUN-QA Assessment Team; Ms. Kodchakorn Phaisitsrisawat – the AUN-QA Secretariat, along with lead assessors and other team members. From CTU, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung - Vice Rector; representatives of the Department of Quality Management; leaders of relevant units with programmes undergoing assessment.

Overview of the closing session

During the three-day working session, the AUN-QA Assessment team acknowledged the continuous efforts of CTU to improve its academic programmes, enhance teaching capacity, and update curricula towards modern and practical approaches. The team also recognized CTU's investments in developing facilities and student support services. Alongside the commendable strengths, the team offered constructive recommendations to help further enhance the programmes, aiming to meet the growing demands of quality assurance in the context of deeper educational integration.
The positive results of the AUN-QA assessment for the following programmes: Bachelor in Commercial Business, Bachelor in Natural Resource Economics, Bachelor in Engineering in Agronomy, and Master in Crop Science, not only reflect the thorough preparation and open-minded spirit of the involved units but also serve as strong evidence of CTU’s commitment to creating a high-quality, learner-centered academic environment that contributes to the community.

Remarks from Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung

Speaking at the event, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung emphasized that the successful completion of the assessment was the result of the collective efforts and unity of CTU’s leadership, faculty members, staff, and learners, especially those from the assessed programmes and, more broadly, the entire CTU community. He also expressed sincere thanks to the AUN-QA Assessment Team and all participating units for their dedication and close collaboration during the year-long self-assessment process and the three-day on-site evaluation.

As part of the program, Senior Asst.Prof.Dr. Sharul Tazrajiman Hj Tajuddin highlighted that the purpose of the AUN-QA assessment is not simply to judge whether a programme is good, but to evaluate how well its quality assurance processes function – from defining learning outcomes and engaging stakeholders, to aligning curriculum components with programme objectives and available resources. The team encouraged the programmes to share experiences, spread best practices, and continue improving. He also expressed hope that CTU will continue to grow and transform from a strong institution into a leading university at both regional and international levels.

The outcomes of this assessment will further strengthen CTU’s internal quality assurance system, laying the groundwork for continuous improvement and alignment with both national and international standards. With a spirit of openness and a strategic vision for sustainable development and integration, CTU is committed to maximizing its strengths while taking to heart the AUN-QA team’s recommendations—thereby affirming its position as one of Vietnam’s higher education institutions on the regional and global academic map.
